[Sugofest] Timeskip Strawhats, Batch 2 - Unit Analysis and Overview

After quite a while, a new Sugofest is inbound with some new characters. The second Timeskip batch will be out next Thursday, and it's a pretty cool one!

This post will contain a review on all the new characters, hoping to help you deciding whether to pull or not! All the abilities posted below refer to the highest evolution of each character.
Feel free to leave your feedback!

New Legend!!

Roronoa Zoro, Gathering of the Strawhats (5*)
Roronoa Zoro, Reunion of the Strawhat Pirates (6*)

Type: DEX
Classes: Slasher, Driven
Slots: 5

HP: 3,608
ATK: 1,518
RCV: 294

Captain Ability:
If your crew has 5 or more Slashers, boosts their ATK by 2.5x. If you kill at least one character in the previous turn, boosts ATK by 3x instead. (Killing an enemy that revives counts for 3x boost!). Also, boosts their HP by 1.5x

Special (20 -> 16 turns):
Deals 60x own ATK as typeless damage to all enemies. If Zoro is your captain, boosts Slashers' ATK by 2x for 1 turn. If you're using him as a sub, boosts ATK by 1.75x for 1 turns, instead.

Unit Analysis:
Zoro is introduced as one of the most wanted legends. He boosts a very strong character and you'll never be short on damage. His great stats and abilities will allow you to build a very powerful team, while allowing you to have an utility character (like Usopp, for delay) in it.

As a captain he's an amazing legend. Upon starting a battle, you'll have a 2.5x ATK boost, that can easily get an upgrade to the 3x one, just by killing one enemy. You just have to kill one enemy per turn, which is pretty easy while stalling. If you by any chance fail to defeat one, don't worry, you'll still have the 2.5x ATK boost. Before entering a boss battle, make sure to have his 3x boost active so that, combined with his amazing special, you can deal heavy damage and burst him down to 0 HP!

Zoro's special synergies extremely well with his captain ability. This is because, if you're using as a captain, you'll get a 2x ATK boost for Slashers, which isn't achieved by any other character (the highest boost being 3D2Y Zoro's 1.75x ATK boost so far). Having a strong orb booster, such as Doflamingo, and the 3x ATK boost complemented by his 2x special, and you'll be dealing an enormous amount of damage!
Even if you're using him as a sub, the ATK boost given to Slasher is still pretty high, though 3D2Y Zoro would be better since it lasts for 2 turns and guarantees a matching orb on himself

Overall, a great unit that really deserves the legend title. The Slasher class will become even more overpowered with the addition of Legend Zoro.

Tony Tony Chopper: Walk Point, Gathering of the Strawhats (4*)
Tony Tony Chopper: Monster Point, Reunion of the Strawhat Pirates (5*)

Type: STR
Classes: Fighter, Powerhouse
Slots: 4

HP: 3,000
ATK: 1,499
RCV: 170

Captain Ability:
Boosts ATK of Powerhouse characters' by 2.75x, but reduces RCV to 0.

Special (25 -> 18 turns):
Reduces damage reduction buff (rainbow shield) and increased defense (blue shield), by 3 turns. Deals 60x own ATK in typeless damage to all enemies

Crew Ability:
If this Chopper has a STR orb and hits a perfect, keeps the orb for the next turn.

Unit Analysis

For some reason, Bandai gives us another Timeskip Chopper. However, this one is much more interesting than the previous QCK version.

Standing as a powerful captain for the Powerhouse class, Chopper will be a great pick for thos who don't have legend Lucci. The 2.75x constant ATK boost comes with the slight drawback of having your recovery nullified, which could be complemented by having Rocketman and level 5 Autoheal.
Paired with another Chopper, you'll have a constant 7,5625x ATK boost, that can be higher if you use a friend Lucci.

His skill are not only limited to his captain ability. His special will reduce the duration of defense buffs, by 3 turn, while dealing heavy damage. This isn't exactly a great special, but it might be useful in certain situations.
The biggest perk of having Chopper as a sub is his Crew Ability. From the moment you get a STR orb on him, you can easily maintain that orb until the end of the battle, just by hitting perfects with him. This is a pretty useful ability, that will come in handy sometimes, allowing you to always deal that extra damage.

Overall, we're talking about a very interesting character. His stats are pretty good, with a decent ATK and HP allowing him to be a great beatstick. Chopper promises to be a great Powerhouse doctor for your team! I mean, captain! With 4 socket slots and a raid that comes every so often, he will be very easy to socket, powering himself up to an even better level!

Brook, Gathering of the Strawhats (4*)
Brook, Reunion of the Strawhat Pirates (5*)

Type: INT
Classes: Slasher, Free Spirit
Slots: 4

HP: 2,421
ATK: 1,317
RCV: 329

Captain Ability:
Boosts chain multiplier by 2.5x and prevents defeat as long as HP is above 50%

Crew Ability:
Completely resists paralysis on this character.

Special (16 -> 10 turns):
Delays all enemies for 1 turn and boosts Free Spirit and Slasher characters' ATK by 1.75x

Unit Analysis

Behold, my Free Spirit lovers friends. Brook, the Soul King, the greatest non legend Free Spirit booster is here! It's from his bones that Timeskip Luffy owners will rise. Brook is one of the most awaited characters for Free Spirit teams (me included, yeyey gimme money to buy gems woot woot)

Jokes aside, Brook is an incredible character for any Free Spirit team, whether you have TS Luffy or not.
His captain ability isn't much. If you want a non legend chain multiplier you always have 3D2Y Luffy. However, you can build a zombie team around Brook and clear lots of content, while having a decent attack boost, since he doesn't boost a specific type or class. Other than zombie-ing, he won't see many uses outside that purpose. So far, Brook is the best zombie lead

The Soul King also comes with a great crewmate ability - he will NEVER get paralyzed while he's a sub, which is a pretty decent ability!

However, we all want Brook for his special. Both Slashers and Free Spirit's teams will get an amazing improvement with this guy! Fear not if you haven't pulled the so wanted 3D2Y Zoro. The soul King will compensate him with that desirable 1.75x ATK boost. Unlike Zoro, it will only last for 1 turn, but Brook delays all enemies which makes him pretty good.

On the Free Spirit side, I personally believe he's a more needed character than on the Slasher side. At the moment, the only 1.75x ATK booster FS class has is Colo Apoo, but he has a big drawback that is having RCV heavily reduced and taking double damage for 2 turns, while the good boost only lasts 1 turn. With Brook, that drawback will be replaced by a delay, which is definitely a better addition.

Brook is also an amazing sub for 6* Law. With this guy, you can run a team composed by Slashers and FS at the same time, since Brook will boost either classes, so as Law!

Overall, a great ATK booster for both classes. If you by chance have TS Luffy and don't own Sabo (like me, let's cry together then), Brook is the character you'll be wanting for sure!

Rating
Stats: 3.5     Captain: 3.5 (5.0 if zombi-ing)    Crew Ability: 4.3    Special: 4.7     Overall: 4.3

Usopp, Gathering of the Strawhats (4*)
Usopp, Reunion of the Strawhat Pirates (5*)

Type: PSY
Classe: Shooter
Slots: 4

HP: 2,712
ATK: 1,142
RCV: 340

Captain Ability:
Boosts Shooters' ATK by 2.25x and their RCV by 1.5x

Crew Ability:
When HP is below 30%, at the start of the turn, boosts ATK and RCV of Shooters by 100 points.

Special (20 -> 14 turns):
Deals 10 hits of 2,000 fixed damage to random enemies. If enemies have delay protection, boosts ATK and orb effect for Shooters by 1.75x for 1 turn

Unit Analysis

God Usopp is back, with a great special upgrade! His stats are OK for "an Usopp" and he promises to be a very useful liar!

His captain ability is kinda average, not giving a proper boost and compensating in RCV. A 2.25x boost with an additional 1.5x RCV boost isn't something to make our eyes shine. In the end, he won't be used as a captain unless you're a beginner and have no other choice.

On the other hand, he comes with a good Crew ability, boosting Shooters ATK and RCV by an additional 100 points (this means if a Shooter has 1200 ATK, he will have 1300 ATK when your HP is below the 30% threshold). Whenever you feel endangered (HP < 30%), this ability will become active and you'll be able to deal a bit more damage and heal for a bigger amount.

Usopp introduces a new form of conditional booster. This one is pretty powerful and depends on the existence of a delay protector debuff. Whenever an enemy has that debuff and you activate Usopp's special, all Shooters will get a 1.75x ATK boost, as well as a 1.75x orb boost for 1 turn. Paired with Heracles, you can guarantee many matching orbs, powering up this special.

If you don't have Zephyr, SW Franky or Van Augur, Usopp does the job. You can burst for 1 turn when running a Shooter  team, and still have damage on the next turn if you have Z or any other orb booster (such as the mentioned above).

All in all, a decent character with a cool new type of conditional special.

Nico Robin, Gathering of the Strawhats (4*)
Nico Robin, Reunion of the Strawhat Pirates (5*)

Type: DEX
Classes: Fighter, Cerebral
Slots: 4

HP: 2,151
ATK: 1,257
RCV: 403

Captain Ability:
Boosts DEX and PSY characters' ATK by 2.25x and their RCV by 1.5x

Crew Ability:
Reduces Blindness duration by 3 turns

Special (22 -> 16 turns):
Reduces Despair by 3 turns and doubles DEX and PSY characters' ATK for 1 turn

Unit Analyis
Our favourite archaeologist, Nico Boobs, err I mean Robin, is a very peculiar character, since she's based exclusively on two types - DEX and PSY. Both her captain and special ability are based on these types, making her a bit restricted.

Robin's captain ability is similar to Usopp's, but for PSY and DEX characters. It's not the best ability but it synergies pretty well with her special ability.

Her crew ability has its effectiveness depending on the duration of the blinding debuff. If we're facing some character that gives more than 3 blinding turns, it won't be much of a use since it won't have any effect. However, if you by accident get blinded by some early stage mob, she will be useful to reduce the blind effect.

Moving onto her special, things become a little different. We're talking about a 2x ATK boost for both DEX and PSY characters, which is a very high boost. This will allow you to do some bursts here and there. This, however, is a very restricted special, since it's only used for those two types, meaning you whether run a full DEX or PSY team to increase it's effectiveness, or you'll use her special to boost 2 or 3 characters only. Besides this slight drawback, she's a great 2 attribute booster that will certainly see its uses

  1. Thanks for the guide and characters review. One edit though
Coli Apoo is not the only 1.75 Atk booster currently, 2nd Anniversary Ace also boosts Atk by 1.75 and heals 3000 hp

    1. For Free Spirit teams that is.

    2. Global doesn't have second Anni ace though which is probably why he didn't bring it up.

    3. Global did have the second Anni Ace, he was in the rare recruit pull.

    4. We had a New Year's Ace. He boosts FS ATK by 1.75x and he is a RR character that was only pullable during that limited time event.
Anniversary ACe is a INT character that was released on JPN 2nd anniversary that you got by completing his island (limited event too).
the only Ace we were given was during the Marineford event, that was the highest reward from the list

    5. I meant New Year Ace. My bad. I used him instead of Ce Apoo. I pulled TS Brook yesterday though so he won't see much use anymore.
